Roots of the Vine
The Manchester Italian Association hosted two gatherings recently to present their video “Roots of the Vine” chronicling the story of early Italian settlers in Ancoats. The evenings, held in Corpus Christi Parochial Centre, were a great success both in attendance and enjoyment. Many people requested another showing so that friends who weren’t able to be there wouldn’t miss out.
Funding for the film came from the Lottery Commission, made by Sara Domville-Maguire and Community Arts North West, the video was completed.

Eight of the oldest members of the Italian community were interviewed for their recollections and this delightful video was a personal and intimate history of their story but also encapsulated many Italian peoples shared history.
