Things for you to do at Trinity
The Methodist Church has had a presence in Ancoats since the nineteenth century, the first building being on Jersey Street in 1823. The Trinity Methodist Church on Butler Street celebrated its thirty sixth anniversary in May last year. Just in case you don’t know what is going on there here is a short list.

Club for the Disabled meet fortnightly Run by The Central Manchester Rotary Club. Trinity church provide helpers, enter-tainment and all the usual facilities.

The Under Five’s Playgroup caters for children from the area, they meet five mornings a week during school term time.

Jubilee Credit Union was set up by members of the church to combat the rising influence of loan sharks. There are more than 100 members and 36 junior members. The company is registered with The Registrar of Friendly Societies and governed by Industrial Providential Societies.

The Friendship Club Is open to anyone, comprising mainly of women who organise their ow programme, they meet fortnightly and are always ready to welcome new members.

Good As New Shop Staffed by church members on a voluntary basis, has been running since 1983. It occupies a permanent site within the building and is open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Children’s Dancing Group Is an independent organisation who hire the hall for a small charge. Members are mainly from Ancoats and Miles Platting, they meet on Thursday evenings for ballet and tap dancing
Senior Citizens Club meets fortnightly on Tuesdays. They play bingo, have music and dancing and organise annual outings.

AA Club meets every Tuesday morning. The group consists of men and women offering support to one another.

Food Distribution The church donates parcels of food to people in emergency situations.

Christmas Day Celebrations. The church provides a special programme for 70-80 people who would otherwise be on their own on Christmas Day. This includes a carol service, full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, afternoon entertainment and tea. It is staffed by church members on a voluntary basis.

Last but not least a new creche facility is available for organisations involved in education programmes.
