A nice story!
Two little girls from Miles Platting were invited to The Lowry Centre’s official opening to meet the Queen. Here’s how it happened. Farrah 4yrs and Molly 3yrs were playing in their front garden one day when they caught the eye of a famous photographer Shirley Baker who was in the area taking various photographs. The childrens mum Vicky, was a bit concerned about a stranger taking photographs but she didn’t manage to speak to the photographer. Months later a friend told Vicky there was a beautiful picture of her children and her pet dog hanging in the photographic exhibition at the Lowry Centre. Vicky paid a visit to investigate, on seeing the picture for herself she asked the curator about it, and explained that the photographer didn’t ask her permission to take the picture or inform her it was to be hung in the exhibition. The curator took Vicky’s address and said he would pass her comments on to the photographer. A short time later Vicky was surprised to receive a copy of the photo’ and an invitation to the opening of the Lowry Centre.

The day arrived, Farrah and Molly in new dresses for the occasion were really excited, they along with mum and grandad Stan, were going to meet a ‘real queen’. Vicky told us “As the time to meet the Queen approached I began to get really nervous but I needn’t have worried, we had an amazing day, at the Lowry Centre, both the Queen and Prince Phillip spoke to us, and we have been told we will receive a little memento of the day”.
