Fruit Crumble
Apples, Plums, Rhubarb, Blackberry, Blackcurrants, or Gooseberries.

Ingredients

1lb fruit.
4oz sugar.
6oz flour.
3oz butter.
2oz caster sugar.

How to Make

Prepare fruit according to type, put into a two pint ovenproof dish in layers with sugar. Sift flour into bowl. Rub butter into flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in caster sugar. Sprinkle the crumble thickly and evenly over the fruit, press down lightly with the palm of the hand then smooth the top with a knife. Bake at 190c. mark 4 for 15 minutes reduce to 180c mark 3 is for a further 45 minutes, or until top is lightly brown. Serve with fresh double cream or custard.
