Youth Development Project.
Have you ever wished there was more for your kids to do after school? Well, Manchester & Salford Methodist Mission have won a bid to set up and run junior and senior youth projects in the area, for two years initially. The junior youth project will work with 8-11 year olds. The senior project will work with 12-16‘s.

The youth projects are based at Ancoats Youth & Community Centre on Butler Street, and are aiming to meet up and form partnerships with groups who are doing youth work in the area already. Plans are also afoot to ask for space in the Varley Street building managed by Cariocca Enterprises (see above).

There is so much going on in the area for the youth of the community but a lot of people don’t know where to turn for information. If you would like to find out what’s going on for different ages, then ring Lance Bell at Trinity Ancoats Community Partnership on 203 6021.

The youth project will employ 2 part-time workers plus sessional workers. There will also be training for volunteers and scope for people taking up ‘new deal‘ opportunities. So if you would like to be a volunteer, and get some new skills too, why not pop along to Ancoats Youth & Community Centre, Butler Street.
