British holiday’s are here again

This is an attempt to try to advertise Fleetwood by writing to our many friends and hope they will in turn send it on to all their friends Margaret, my wife and I, have recently moved to Fleetwood, and we have been very pleasantly surprised. Talk about an undiscovered gem? the place is a walking history lesson and the people are so nice it's unbelievable. The front is completely natural or `GREEN` as people seem to say nowadays. The sands are marvellous for children, and along the front is a lovely children's playground, complete with swings, climber, space for football and other games and always the sea only yards away. In the grounds of the Marine Hall you will find that you can play Crown Green Bowls, also pitch and putt, crazy golf, there's a complete pool for model yachts, a Kite Shop where you can just fly a Kite or learn to Kite Surf etc. and all this along the promenade in lovely surroundings.

Fancy a meal then you've got umpteen choices from the iconic NORTH EUSTON hotel supposedly named by Queen Victoria herself (yes she came to Fleetwood as well). To the many bars and cafes etc, distributed around the town, if you're on the front; just down from the Marine Hall you'll find one of Fleetwood's little secrets, DAVE it is just a small café but very well visited.

The walk along the promenade down to Rossall Point is a revelation, completely natural with sand dunes all the way at your side. At Rossall you will find the Lofthouse Tower, once derelict but now thanks to the generosity of the Lofthouse family (Fishermens Friend) is a useful observation tower. Just at the side of the place where the ferry departs, you'll find the Ferry Café, that only closes one day in the year, and that's Christmas Day.

The lifeboat shop is situated here, and as most people know the lifeboats exist on voluntary contributions, and people in the lifeboat shop are very helpful if you have any queries. Next to the Ferry Café is the tourist information shop and they too are very helpful.

If you like Architecture then we have some of the finest buildings built by one Decimus Burton apparently the top architect of his day. He designed Fleetwood and he also designed Hyde Park in London. The North Euston Hotel, St.Peter's Church and Queens Terrace are marvellous examples of his work. The Pharos Lighthouse, and the Lower Lighthouse are also lovely buildings. Along Lord Street, are many fine buildings some of them altered to accommodate the many shops there. Also in Fleetwood you will find a marvellous Market, with over 200 stalls inside and out. Usually in Summer from June it is open every day except Wednesday and Sunday. In winter it's opened Tuesday Friday and Saturday all-in-all it's a lovely place to visit and an ideal place to retire to.
