Step Back in Time
I was pleased to recognise your front page photograph of Muriel Godfrey and her friend Eileen. Muriel and I were good friends years ago and I am enclosing a photograph of when we went on an outing to Poynton, near Blackpool with the Miles Platting Methodist Sunday school group, which was held in a hall in Dale Street around 1948-1949. Muriel is at the top of the slide and I am below her on her left-hand side.
I can't remember the other girl at the top of the slide but I think the boy "hanging" on the side was Billy Woodruff.
I was sorry to read of the loss of Marian Godfrey (Muriel's Sister) as I remember her well. Please convey my condolences to Muriel on the loss of her sister. I am sure she'll remember me as we were good childhood friends and enjoyed many happy times together.
I am also enclosing a photograph of a pantomime which was put on by the Methodist church in Dale Street Hall. (I think it was Dick Whittington) My cousin Marian Fox and her friend Pauline Rushton are the smaller girls at the bottom of the painted staircase, and the centre couple was Sheila Aspinal (principal boy) but I don't remember the name of the girl. Alice Ford was the lady in the velvet short suit and Brenda Woodruff is on the far right (sideways view)
I thought these photographs may be of interest to you and your readers as it is always nice to "step back in time" and remember what you did.
Circa 1948?
