Thinking about the old area of Miles Platting. At the lights on Oldham Road and Collyhurst Street with the White Hart pub to the left, cross over Oldham Road to the Post Office on Varley Street corner, turn left towards the Playhouse Cinema 50 yards on your right was a chip shop run by two elderly sisters and they cooked on a coke and coal range. Approximately 100 yards up was Gillibrand's, the Barber and next door was a big Mansion and inside was a doctors Surgery, do any readers know the name of the Doctor?
Is the aforementioned mansion what in my childhood was St. John's Rectory?
