Childrens Playtime in the fifties
In issue 26 Winter 2007, there is a photo of my sister Marian and myself. Marian is on the top row last on the right, sadly she died ten years ago. I am in the centre of the middle row -dark top and gymslip. I was delighted to see this photo and even more delighted when I found myself on the front cover of issue 28, in the middle photo No. 2. (white collar and cuffs). I have this same photo! I can remember almost everybody in both photos'.
I am enclosing two photo's, (See Front Cover) one taken outside our house 12 Draycott Street.
The photo was taken on my 21st Birthday, the blonde girl is Eileen Higham who lived next-door-but-one, next to the Browns.
The photo of the boys reading comics was taken in 1954, next door to 12 Dale Street, two of the boys lived there and my brother Alan is on the middle row on the left. He moved to Brisbane, Australia about 40 years ago and is still there.
PS. If you will be arranging another social afternoon, I would love to attend and meet up with folk, but I have became a paraplegic 5 years ago and need to know if there is disabled access for a wheelchair into the building.
Yes Muriel, there is disabled access, we are on the second floor but there is a lift. Editor
