priestI Dropped The Eggs!

I have just read the summer issue of "Have Your Say" which was very interesting. I lived in Mill St., Bradford during the 1930's. My parents ran a grocers shop facing St. Brigid's Church, where Father Fitzgerald reigned supreme.

As a boy, I once took a dozen eggs to the Presbytery.  Instead of the housekeeper, (Miss Brennan), Father "Fitz" answered the door.  He was extremely tall and was wearing black church vestments.  I took one look at him, dropped the eggs and ran!  It was to be start of a friendship which continued until he died.

P.S. I wonder if any of your readers remember Hooley's grocers next to Preston's greengrocers.
