Schools’ reunion

On 22nd June 2007 there was a Corpus Christi farewell reunion at the Millgate Hotel, Failsworth. It was attended by about 150 people, not just Corpus Christi past pupils/church-goers, but people who had attended other schools and churches in the area! As well as the lovely buffet, we were treated to a bagpipe band, the Original Kerry Pipers, and music from a DJ for the rest of the night.

The evening was a great success with many people meeting up for the first time in years; some hadn’t seen each other since leaving school, some 40years before, there was even a couple, Bernard & Doris Taylor, who had come from Australia to visit their family but made a special effort to get to the reunion and meet up with past friends. Well done Stella MacDonald and Pat Breaky for organising and over-seeing the event which in itself was a mamouth task.

But I must mention both Stella and Pat are great friends, members and distribution volunteers for Have Your Say magazine, so as well as making sure everyone found who they were looking for and welcoming people to the event. They had brought with them a stack of Have Your Say magazines and booklets and collected names and cash from people who wanted to become members of Have Your Say!

Another two members and distribution volunteers for Have Your Say who also spread the word about membership on the night, were Marie Pandolfo (nee Jordan) and Beryl Pennington (nee Cunningham).
