Shocked and Saddened

Dear friends,
I’ve received the sad news that Corpus Christi Church will be closing down, along with the social club, due to lack of funds.

People have started a petition hoping to save the Church. I know many people have happy memories of school days, especially of friends, teachers nuns and priests.

It is sad to think that it is happening so soon after the Empress Cinema was destroyed by fire; a place where many people met.

If you wish for the church and social club to remain open why not telephone the Church secretary and tell them how sorry you are that the Church may be closing, or write to Have Your Say Magazine with your memories of those days.

Since the completion of this letter, we have found out that the church and land has been sold. I feel it is very sad for all parishioners past and present to lose the church and grounds without being informed about this transaction. A very sad day indeed. Ed
