To Victor the Spoils
Victor Michae Another name will soon be added to the popular tenors of our time. Although the name Victor Michael isn’t quite as well known yet, people who have heard him sing will agree his voice is “up there” with the best of them.

Victor is a local young man who comes from a showbiz background, his dad Vic Lezal; was a bandleader for thirty-five years, making him the longest serving bandleader for Mecca at the Ritz Ballroom in Manchester.

This is where Victor first got the taste for performing. He was sixteen when he began singing with his dad’s band, (later to become the Victor Michael Band) he practiced with the band and was included in a Charity Show for the Red Cross Ball at the Crown Plaza in Manchester. He sang in the “Latino Dancers Show”. Following his performance he listened with interest to the tenor, singing some of the Italian Classics including Nessum Dorma.

Victor enjoys performing a variety of music and is adept at varying his technique and style. He decided to include O’sole mio and other Italian classics in his performance. Up to this point Victor had never had a singing lesson but decided to consult a teacher, he started vocal training with Robert Anderson and David Dubrey at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

Victor’s popularity throughout the North of England is gaining steadily. Earlier this year he sang before Members of Parliament at Berkshire.

Victor also went on to work on the P&O cruise liners and in May 2006 joined the Oceana on a Mediterranean Cruise. The following October he sailed on the Arcadia to Barbados and next year he is lined up to join the QE2.

Victor has also been booked to sing at the Italian “Ciao Italia” Charity Evening at Mere Golf Club. An English lad singing Italian! Next March he has the opportunity to perform on the Joe Longthorne show at the London Palladium.

Victor has also been busy in the recording studio, and a new album is due to be released next year.

Another “local lad” who has made something of himself; Victor was educated at Norman House School, Hollinwood Avenue, New Moston. He then went on to Sixth Form College at Hulme Grammar School. During his time in this country Victor is often seen performing at the Eight Bells Public House in Failsworth.
