A few more TV & Radio memories
Fred Fielders article got me thinking about Radio and T.V. from years back. Here are some I came up with! I hope it revives many happy memories for other readers.

Radio memories

There was:
What about it ma (It’s that man again) Tommy Handley

Mrs Mopp (Can I do you now sir?)

Colonel Chinstrap (I don’t mind if I do) Every time the word drink was mentioned.

Ali-oops (like to buy) Always something of a shady nature. (Saucy post cards etc.)

Mona Lott (It’s being so cheerful as keeps me going) Always complaining about something.

Workers Playtime - visits to companies where talented employees would perform for thirty minutes at lunchtime and broadcast on the radio.

Ted and Barbara Andrews and their daughter Julie (Yes it’s that Julie Andrews)

Dick Barton Special Agent with snowy White and Jock. 6:45pm Nightly plus an omnibus edition on Saturday mornings.

Vic Oliver and his violin

Fumf (Who always had something to say in a farcical sketch) He’d say; Fumf has spoken.
Another thing Fumf said was; Down in the jungle living in a tent, Down in the heart of the dreaded Jungle of Janzibulla, situated in the province of Japona lived—-This was followed by a comedy sketch. (I never found out where Janzibulla of Japonica were!)

The ITMA show ran for ten years from 1939 to 1949.

Tommy Trinder (You lucky people)

Stanley Unwin’s gobbledygook word mix-ups.

Claude Dampier (can’t remember his forte’; does anyone remember)

Valentine Dyall your storyteller at 9pm-10pm (The man in black)

Arthur Askey in Variety Bandbox (I thank You!) also the Bee Song.

Red Ingle and his Natural Seven (Cigereets & Whuskey & Wild Wild Wimen) Always being interrupted by some fella wanting to hear “Temptation” He never did hear it!

Uncle Mac “Hello children everywhere” (Lots of silly songs)
Albert Fox
