Friends of Foxdenton Park
foxdenton hall This introduction is to pay tribute to the wonderful people who give up their time and energy to look after Foxdenton hall and park. So come along and enjoy their “open Day” activities throughout the year.

The historic Foxdenton Hall which dates from the fifteenth century sits in the beautiful setting of Foxdenton park in Chadderton. From the early 1970's the hall has had little use after a major refurbishing in the late 1960's.

The Friends of Foxdenton have sought to breathe life into the building again over the last three years. The aim has been to restore the hall as a community use facility and ultimately to resurrect the original grandeur of this jewel of a building.

The Friends have run a Summer café in the hall. Visitors can enjoy afternoon teas, ice creams and snacks in the hall's stunning surroundings. The café has been supplemented by a huge range of events organised by the friends. Many community organisations have been encouraged to use the venue, providing a rich texture of varied activities throughout the years.

Locals and visitors have been drawn to the park to relax with their families. Traditional events such as Halloween and Christmas have been celebration in music and dance. The arts have been celebrated through poetry evenings, outdoor music events and visits from local bands, theatre groups and musicians. Themed family days have drawn crowds to remember significant moments from our past.

This year saw the first Chadderton day, a showcase for Chadderton's history and a chance for the community to come together in a relaxed and informal way. Chadderton day will now be an annual event.

Foxdenton Hall sits comfortably in its parkland setting. Its small size compliments the formal landscape it adjoins, with the grounds falling away to a more secret world of wooded tracks beyond. At the back of the hall the gentle game of bowls can be enjoyed on the two greens.

Many internal improvements have been made inside the hall, including a full refit to the kitchen area, a decorating programme and improvements to the lighting. The friends work has brought life to the old building and it now has a central role as an integral part of the Chadderton community.

Future dreams are for Foxdenton Hall to develop an identity that reflects its proud history. The Friends group aim to ensure that the hall is not just a handsome building, but a place that is a vibrant centre of the Chadderton community
