Were you there?

Whilst browsing through back issues, I read of several people doing the annual trek to Crime Lake. I’ve done it lots of times myself but couldn’t even thing about doing it now. Lots of the places en-route had obvious names like the clay hills- first fields and ten arches, but why Crime Lake, what was the crime and when did it happen?

The enclosed photograph is a Corpus Christi Extravaganza of some 50 plus years ago. Many of your present readers will no doubt identify themselves.
