Join St. George’s Day Parade.
On Sunday 24th April 2005
the parade will commence at 12noon, The Lord Mayor of Manchester will start the parade. beginning at James Street onto Varley Street the route will be circular, from Varley Street down Collyhurst Street, along Rochdale Road, up Livesey Street, the parade then crosses Oldham Road and continues down Butler Street, up along Bradford Road and down Varley Street back to the starting point. The distance is 2:4 miles.
When the parade is over there will be a fairground behind Corpus Christi Church, entertainment for the children and refreshments in Corpus Christi Parochial Centre.
If you would like to join us to celebrate St. George’s day, phone Thelma McGrail on: 205 3709. There may be still room to be included on a float.
Alternatively follow along in your own vehicle, which may be decorated with bunting, flags etc. Or simply line the route to cheer the parade as it passes by! It would also add to the atmosphere if people living along the streets/roads on the route could decorate the outside of their houses.
Last year’s parade was a huge success with everyone involved enjoying the day immensely.
