Bells & Brasses

This is a photo of my granddad, Albert Chorlton. He was a carter at Bradford Road gas works.

Every May Day (he told me) he would have to decorate the horse with fancy brasses and tassles. The horse in the photo was called Major and was around 17hands tall. My Granddad was less than 5foot tall.
