I have a friend in London, Doreen Vizard, who had a letter published in ‘Have Your Say’ regarding living in the Bird in Hand pub when she was a child. She is keen to get in touch with a Sue Broady who also had a recent letter published regarding the same pub. Unfortunately Doreen hasn’t a computer and so I said I would try and find out the details for her. Is there any way you can help please? If Sue Broady could contact me by e-mail I can pass on Doreen’s address and/or phone number.

Many thanks for your help.

I am trying to find any info or photos of a place that was called ‘Kitchen Bank’ that was situated around Cheetham Hill Road in the 1800s. Maybe some of your readers could assist.

Does anyone remember any of the Stringer family from Ancoats? Matt Stringer used to have a boxing gym in Holland Street, Miles Platting. They were a
large family and any memories of them would be warmly welcomed.

Please can anyone tell me anything more about the programme Happidrome, and the words of the song they sang. I know there also was another line that went something like this - ‘We three are all alone living in a memory, Ramsbottom, Enoch & me’

Were the three Frank Randall, Joseph Locke and Harry Corris as you state? Did the three of them sing it together? Hoping you can enlighten me further on this please.
Many thanks Jill Mackenzie. Vancouver

Would any of your readers know of the whereabouts of Freddy Watson ex landlord of the White Hart pub on the corner of Oldham Road/Collyhurst Street. He was born in 1943 in Newton Heath and attended Briscoe Lane School and then Brookdale Park. He was landlord of the Regent Pub in Salford and then the Dog and Partridge in Blackpool before returning to Collyhurst about 1990. I would appreciate any information as I have lost touch with him.

Thank you for the latest edition of Have Your Say. It is almost snatched from my hand before I have time to finish reading it. Some back copies found their way to Australia. As a result I have these photos* that may be of interest. One needs no explanation because of the dates etc that are printed on it. Possibly some of the families of the Team may still be around. The other photo is 1948/49 taken on a pub outing from the Vine Inn corner of Rudyard Street Harpurhey. The white building behind the Chara’ is the Queens Arms. The friend who sent the photos, Ken Taylor PO Box 434 Tullamarine Victoria 3043 Australia would love to hear from anyone who remembers him, he is an ex GPO employee.

I was very interested in the article Clara St. Recollections.
I lived on Clara Street at No. 44; my name was ‘Heald’ then. My gran and granddad lived at No. 6 and of course my Auntie Ginny & Uncle Sam lived at I think was 18 Clara Street. The fire station on New Street, where on New Years Eve if the fire engines were in the firemen used to ring in the New Year, and all the people who were in the George Public House on Clarence Street (which is now know as Canada Street) came up to the Fire Station.

Mrs Cissy Johnson ran the George next to St. Lukes School that all my family went to until we moved in 1952 to New Moston. I remember the air-raid shelters in Clara Street facing our house; we had to go down these shelters during the war.

My mother’s family lived at 69 Holland Street near the Navigation Pub (Mr. Wilson used to be the landlord). Before that they lived in Peel Terrace. I wonder if anyone remembers them. They were called Cavanagh.

I would love to hear from anyone who knew these families.
