Congratulations Chris
The City Councils first ever Community Awards were organised by Manchester Housing and are intended to celebrate those individuals who make a real difference to their communities. The categories included: Individual Contribution, Group Contribution, Good Neighbour Award, Environment Award and Pride of Manchester Award.

I nominated one of my sports coaches - Chris Corcoran, who lives in Ancoats, for an Individual Sporting Achievement Award. The ceremony was conducted at Manchester Town Hall and was attended by the Lord Mayor, Lady Mayoress, Councillor Richard Lees and Councillor Basil Curley.

There were four shortlisted in this category and Chris actually won it! He received a medal, trophy and £250. This was a great personal achievement for him and also for the local community.
Nish Joshi, Eastside Community Sports Development Officer.
