Clayton Community Farm

A Farm In The City
Twenty years ago the task to turn a debris strewn croft into a little green oasis in the middle of an inner city area began. Developed with assistance from the Local Authority and the Private Sector and with the help of lots of hardworking local volunteers the site was turned from a local dumping ground into a pleasant community facility. After more hard work getting enclosures and outbuildings habitable the farm was eventually ready to accept it’s first animals.

Twenty years on and the farm is still going and it is hoped it will keep on surviving for many more years.

Opening times
Monday to Friday 9am - 2pm

Sunday 10am - 2pm

Group visits can be arranged by appointment. We would like to open for longer hours but cannot until we get more volunteers

What’s on the farm in 2002
The Farm Community Rooms. (Accessible for people with disabilities).

A wildlife pond area where frogs and hedgehogs and a huge variety of insects and wild plants flourish.

Vegetable patches and a raised bed garden.

Why not come for a visit and meet Tricky, Dicky, Janet and Julie to name just four of the goats.

Butterfly and Thumper Rabbit and their friends.

Geese, pigs, ducks and hens.

And last but not least Benji the pony.

Anyone over the age of sixteen can become a volunteer and there are Educational courses available in animal welfare and Recreational opportunities to be taken.
