Is The Area To Blame?
Looking around Miles Platting is very sad and depressing. There is litter everywhere, dog mess by the ton, even hypo-dermic syringes left lying on waste ground. Men and women sitting in public places, drinking the cheapest alcohol they can get their hands on, getting so drunk they can hardly stand.

Fourteen year olds hanging around off-licences hoping to con an adult into obtaining alcoholic drinks for them.

Petty crime is rife, vandalism, breaking into cars to steal anything that can be sold. Breaking into houses, factories, shops, clinics, doctors’ surgeries, telephone boxes etc.

Then there is the problem of stealing cars.... Youngsters not even old enough to hold a licence, going on a jaunt in somebody’s car, putting their own lives and anyone else’s life at risk, who happens to get in the way. Then when they have either crashed it or simply run out of petrol, they set it on fire.

There are lots of problems in the area but I can’t understand why people make excuses for the anti-social behaviour. The younger generation are given the excuse “There’s nothing for them to do!” I say, there may be nothing organised for them, but they certainly know how to organise getting into mischief and causing untold trouble for the victims of their deeds! If they put their talents to the good, who knows what they might achieve? Also, what about the youths who don’t get into any mischief? They live in the same area as the minority who go off the rails, so why give the anti-social behaviour a false excuse?

The thing I find most depressing is the fact that many people witness the acts of vandalism and theft, but do nothing about it. They seem to blame the area itself, as if the bricks and mortar are responsible for the wanton damage that makes the area a dump.

Who would believe that the picture below is a clinic in Miles Platting? It looks more like a building in a war torn country
