Fried Jam Butties
Batter
4 oz Plain flour
¼ teaspoon salt
1-2 eggs
¼ pint milk

Method
Sift the flour and salt in a basin, break the eggs into the centre and stir in the flour, gradually adding the milk until batter is the consistency of thick cream; this usually makes about ¾ pint. Beat this for about 10 minutes, let stand for one hour.

Ingredients For Butties
Sliced white bread
Jam
Sugar

Method
Spread preferred flavour of jam on bread, fold in half then dip in batter and quickly put it in the deep fryer. Fry until golden brown on outside then remove from fryer and sprinkle with sugar. Serve on its own or with custard or fresh cream.
